Frequently Asked Questions
These answers provide general information about Purpose & Power Personal Care Services & Respite. Specific services, schedules, and service arrangements are confirmed during the intake and assessment process.

We provide non-medical in-home support, including personal care assistance, companion and sitter services, homemaker support, respite care, and selected specialty support services.

No. Our services are non-medical. Caregivers do not provide skilled nursing, diagnose conditions, administer medications, perform wound care, or provide medical treatment.

Services are designed for adults who need help with daily routines, personal care, companionship, household support, caregiver relief, or other approved non-medical assistance.

Our Core Service Area includes Hinds, Madison, and Rankin Counties. Select extended-area services may be available by approval, and additional minimums or travel fees may apply.

Our Personal Care Services & Respite division is private-pay at launch. Families pay directly for services according to the approved rate and service agreement.

Standard core services generally have a 3-hour minimum. Some specialty services have different minimums, including Family Relief Reserve™ respite and other specialty offerings.

Start by completing the general Request Care form. We’ll contact you to discuss your needs, availability, and next steps. More detailed or sensitive information is collected through a secure intake process.

Caregivers complete a structured hiring, screening, orientation, and competency process before being assigned to clients. Assignments are based on qualifications, availability, demonstrated competency, client needs, and fit.

We consider client preferences whenever possible, but caregiver availability, qualifications, service needs, and scheduling requirements also affect assignments.

Yes, when specifically authorized and appropriate. Mileage and actual client-specific expenses such as parking or tolls may apply.

Cancellations made 24 or more hours in advance are not charged. Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to fees according to the client agreement.

Yes. Respite care is one of our core services, and Family Relief Reserve™ offers an additional structured option for families who want ongoing respite planning and support.

No. Services are scheduled based on availability. Priority scheduling or backup planning does not guarantee emergency, same-day, or replacement coverage.

Yes, through approved Pet & Person Support™ services. Routine tasks may include feeding, fresh water, short walks, and basic pet-related household support. Veterinary care and high-risk animal handling are excluded.

Sensitive intake forms, health information, employment documents, and other private records are not provided through public downloads. Those documents are completed through the appropriate secure process.
Helpful Contacts & When to Seek Other Support
Purpose & Power provides non-medical in-home support. Some needs may require a different type of provider, emergency service, or licensed professional.
Medical or Nursing Needs
For skilled nursing, wound care, injections, medication administration, clinical assessment, or other medical treatment, contact the appropriate licensed healthcare provider or home-health agency.
Urgent or Emergency Situations
For serious or life-threatening concerns, call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately. Purpose & Power caregivers are not a substitute for emergency medical services.
Mental Health or Crisis Support
For urgent mental-health concerns, contact the appropriate crisis or behavioral-health resource. If there is immediate danger, call 911.
Community & Family Support
Families may also benefit from local aging, disability, caregiver-support, transportation, food-assistance, or community-service programs depending on their needs.
